BUILDERS CLUB FUNDRAISING
The Builders Club (i.e. the Choir) received a donation of $200.00 from the Lion's Club for helping the seniors with raking leaves. Additionally, the boys received over $200.00 in donations for singing at the Cambridge Mall and collecting for Bridges downtown. The boys also collected over 20 pounds of pop can tabs whose son has Lou Gehrig's Disease and the father who has MS. That is indeed outstanding, boys!
Thank you to David and Kate Schooley for providing the free tickets to the movies. -

PRESIDENT'S INAUGURAL SPEECH
What follows is CKBC Builders Club President Connor Goliath's speech on the occasion of the inaugural meeting of the CKBC Builders Club:
What is a Builders Club? What are we supposed to be doing as a club? These are good questions, so I went looking. On the Builders Club webste, I found these principles:
- Our Motto statement is: Building leaders
- Our Vision statement is: To develop competent, capable, caring leaders through the vehicle of service
- Our Mission statement is: Builders Club is an international student-led organization providing members with opportunities to perform service, build character, and develop leadership
- Firstly, Character Building, which means the ability to do the right thing, even when it might be the unpopular choice.
- Secondly, Leadership, which is seen as the ability to listen, communicate, serve, and guide others.
- Thirdly, Inclusiveness, which means accepting and welcoming differences in other people.
- And lastly, Caring, which is seen as the act of being concerned about or interested in other people or situations.
I have several ideas of what we might be able to do as a group this upcoming year. The first idea is something I'm very passionate about, because it directly affects my family. Each year we walk in the local Alzheimers Walk For Memories. I was thinking that maybe the choir could volunteer to sing while the walkers are walking the mall to keep them entertained and motivated. The second idea is that we could help out at the local Self Help Food Bank by stocking and organizing the shelves, and lastly, we could organize a group garage sale and send all the proceeds to a cause that our club will decide on together. I am sure that you also have many ideas that we can look at and figure out how to work on as a team. Our overall goal is to make Cambridge and the world a better place to live, while getting to know each other better, having fun, and learning how to serve others.
